E4 Computer Engineering joins UniMoRe, UniFi, NVIDIA and Cineca to promote the ELLIS Summer School 2023 on artificial intelligence. The September 19 roundtable was attended by Stefano Bonaccini, president of the Emilia-Romagna region.
E4 Computer Engineering is participating as a Solution Provider in ELLIS Summer School 23, an event organized by UNIMORE together with the University of Florence, in collaboration with NVIDIA and Cineca. During the event, on September 19, E4 participated in the roundtable “Artificial Intelligence: a big opportunity in Industry”, a high-level event dedicated to the evolution of Artificial Intelligence and its impact on the business and research world, which was also attended by Stefano Bonaccini, president of the Emilia-Romagna region.
The European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS) is a European scientific network whose purpose is to promote research excellence and advance discoveries in the field of Artificial Intelligence, as well as to better prepare the next generation of researchers in the field of AI through a comprehensive pan-European doctoral program.
ELLIS comprises 39 laboratories in 14 European countries dedicated to machine learning and intelligent systems research.
The theme of this edition of the Summer School is “Large-Scale AI for Research and Industry,” with all ELLIS PhD students and postdocs being given the opportunity to exchange and share in-person knowledge on machine learning, intelligent systems and the topics covered by ELLIS programs, practicing with hands-on labs and in-person lectures. All students will have access to the Booster partition of the Leonardo Supercomputer installed at CINECA, which contains 3456 compute nodes each equipped with four 64 GB NVIDIA Ampere GPUs, with a peak of 89.4 TFLOPs per node. In addition, CINECA has reserved an additional 500 Ampere GPUs available for three days and h24.
“It was a great privilege to participate in this event which was attended by leading figures in the field of AI, such as Prof. Rita Cucchiara, of AIRI at the University of Modena and Reggio, Cristian Canton Ferrer, Head of Responsible AI at Meta, and Michela Milano, Director of the Alma Mater Research Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence, at the University of Bologna,” explains Cosimo Gianfreda, CEO of E4 Computer Engineering. “Emilia-Romagna is one of the Italian regions that is investing the most in AI training and is thriving with talent. As the President of the Region, Stefano Bonaccini, pointed out, today it is more essential and urgent than ever to make our country’s attractiveness stronger in order to compete globally. For my part, as CEO of E4 Computer Engineering, I am deeply convinced that the road we are taking is already going in that same direction, because as a company we have always been looking for new talents who are ready to share their skills in a dynamic and highly innovative company like ours.“
Organized by the Modena ELLIS Unit, the ELLIS Summer School 2023 takes place between September 18 and 22, 2023 at the “Enzo Ferrari” Department of Engineering in Modena.
