ENEA is an Italian public research agency which works in the field of research and development of products for the energy, environmental and technology sectors. The Agency processes a large quantity of data each day in various areas, including materials science, biophysics, climatology, computational fluid dynamics and nuclear fusion. It was thus seeking a solution that would provide computing power to highly scalable applications, maximizing CPU efficiency, improving simulation times and combining high performance with energy efficiency.
E4 answered the challenge launched by ENEA by developing one of the most important high performance computing infrastructure projects in Italy, consisting of a high density Supermicro server (fat twin – 8 calculation nodes in a 4U chassis) for a total of 300 dual socket calculation nodes interconnected using Mellanox Infiniband FDR 56Gb/s technology and managed through our Medooza High Performance Computing Cluster suite.
We provided our technological solutions and logistical support to the customer. In fact, we configured and tested the high performance computing system in a very short timeframe. It is the largest High Performance Computing Cluster (in terms of nodes) provided and configured by E4 to date.
